This blog’s first impression is that it will just be another blog about rural life, farming, or homesteading. While you will certainly find tips on all these topics – that’s not the only thing that is on mind.
What is this blog really about?
This blog is not just about rural living. It’s about freedom – financially, in terms of time, and I also want this be about my freedom of expression of my thoughts (Sindanaigal in Tamil). It might not always be right but could offer a different perspective.
The grounded way is a journey towards financial independence, personal control, and a life that isn’t run by the clock, the crowd or the corporate machine.
It’s about the hard questions:
- Why am I constantly busy, yet unsatisfied?
- How can I simplify without sacrificing joy?
- What skills or habits give me real control over my life?
It will include writing on farming, gardening, animal husbandry, and living close to the land. However, these are tools, not the goal.
The deeper aim is to explore:
- Lower cost of living
- Gain food security
- Create space to think, breathe and live
- Breakaway from paycheck to paycheck stress
- Spend more time with family
Whether you grow your own tomatoes or build another income stream, it’s the same destination: freedom, peace, and loads of happiness.
Slowing down is a healing act
Surrounded by noise, hustle, speed, continuous work, and engagement, slowing down is a healing act.
The grounded way encourages intentional choices:
- Living below your means
- Building useful skills
- Prioritizing health over hustle
- Saying “No” to things that drain you
- Creating a lifestyle that reflects your real values
Ultimately, if we can improve our lives and help just a single person to change theirs, the goal is achieved.
I am not suggesting that we all quit our jobs. You don’t have to move to a village to do this, you just need to want a life that makes sense.
One of my favorite movie dialogues is in one of my favorite movies is a conversation between a couple discussing how work is consuming their family time. The husband says, “I need this job,” and the wife responds, “You don’t need this job, you want this job”.
What you can expect on this blog
Expect more content on:
- Essential life skills
- Budgeting and financial freedom
- Sustainable and intentional living
- Mental clarity and minimalism
- And yes, farming, growing food and boring things
In conclusion, the grounded way is a mindset, a quiet but firm decision to take control. If you are looking for that too, let’s explore it together.
